The last meeting was on Sunday 5th October, 1.30 pm at AMIKAS in Takamiya.
Again many thanks to all presenters and attendees! We had a great time and were finally rewarded with some of Miki’s delicous corn, blueberry, etc. cake which she so kindly baked for us all! Yoriko and Nigel also bought along other goodies which were finally raffled off at the end, using our new name cards kindly prepared by … er, was it Miki?
President Miki did a fine job as MC and also presented a number of nice song activities.
A number of members took videos, hopefully these can be linked to this site in the very near future.
Warm-up songs
1) Nigel presented a very “natural” Cathy Kampa halloween song with great gestures, no translation required. “Pumpkin, Pumkin big and fat.
2) Miki – “Halloween is Almost Here” & “It’s Time to go Trick or Treating.”
3) Yoriko – Gave us a wonderful performance of “Knock Knock Trick or Treat” from Super Simple songs. Click here for the free halloween flashcards (and check out the cool video!) She brought along some simple but quite superb props bought at the Daiso next to Hakata Station including a witch hat, a couple of pirate hats, and a great monster mask. Get down there before everything sells out!
4) Riki – Hallowen “Who is the ghost?” A couple of “students” were sent from the classroom. Using a big white another “student” was covered. Next, the original students came back into the classroom, and then had to guess who was under the sheet.
The video below shows the “Drop the Sheet” game. First person to identify the student on the other side after the sheet has dropped wins. Simple and fun!
More videos can be found on this Youtuber’s channel!
A fun tongue twister DVD from Matsuka phonics – good for around 小学 6th graders, especially for boys who no longer like singing!
5) Peter – another game utilizing his super strings and kitchenware! Originally a dice game called 7-1 he has adpated it to work with halloween figures on strings. He disguised a pan lid as a pumpkin by covering it with orange cloth. When the dice come up “6″ and “1″ together, the lid is bought crashing down on to the figures. The kid who pulls their string fast enough to save their figure wins a candy.
6)Emi – Presented her beautifully named and designed Dicekey system. Seems like this could be an easy way to help kids pick-up their ABCs and writing skills by using big, physical movements and music.
You may also see a new feature called “Regulars’ Lounge.“ Hopefully we will be able to post or link to materials members bring to meetings, provided they wish to share with our group members. You need a password to access this page. Please ask the President.
Please respect all local and international copyright laws, and do not post what infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others. Offenders will not dealt with lightly !!!
Hope to see you at the next meeting on November 16th at AMIKAS, Takamiya, Fukuoka City.
