Our November Meeting was held as usual at AMIKAS in Takamiya, on Sunday November 16th 2008.

Peter and Miki got the show on the road with show warm-up songs.

First up was Peter with his version of “What do you want for Christmas?” by Super Simple Songs.  Entertainig as always, thank you Peter!  Unfortunately, we have yet to source the actual video footage (evidence!) from the actual meeting, so I have borrowed the (also entertaining) Super Simple clip. See below.

Miki then hosted a discussion on Christams Parties.  She stated the importance of being clear about what you aims are when beginnning to plan your party (fun, happyokai, cultural experience?), and shared some cool ideas regarding venues (community centre / school), helpers (teachers, ex-students, or parents), activities (the cake exchange / buffet sounded fantastic), how to enliven songs (such cute Christmas Trees!) and performances (shadow games).

Info on my matching game coming up once I have got the heads up from it’s creator!

Meanwhile – See this video on how to create your own matching game!

(www.blinkx.com is a greate video search engine, btw!)

Finally, the meeting ended with a wide ranging discussion focusing on bullying, its causes, and how it is dealt with by different teachers and schools in Japan.  We also discussed how to deal with students who are bullied, and bully, in the small ESL class.

…will be on Sunday, December 14th at AMIKAS, near Takamiya Station from 1.30pm until 3.30pm (or possibly until 4.30pm if members decide to continue until then).

Please bring a short Christmas related activity/game that you can show in around 5 minutes.  The focus will be social and fun, but purposeful at the same time!!!

We are also planning a materials exchange, so if you have materials you no longer use please bring then and exchange them with fellow members.

Refreshments will also be available.

The admission fee will be ¥1000 as usual, although if extra “provisions” are required, any extra costs of these will probably be divided as agreed on the day…  No Caviar and Truffle salads this year, please!!!

Here is a link to the Genki English Christmas page.  Our favourite, Richard Genki, always has some good ideas up his sleeve!

See you all soon!!!!

PS. Please check out the report on what took place at the meeting on November 16th.
